So I have a school whose eclipse is no longer supported due to its age... cloud/mls replacement costs are a little high!

What do people have as cheaper alternatives? I’m not really looking to free/open source options.

Yes can’t believe MLS are forcing people to migrate to cloud as they will not provide locally hosted eclipse instances with the HTML5 interface. We are also in the same boat, but the biggest problem is that another library software needs to support AD or MIS users, data migration from Eclipse, barcode scanning just to name a few features......

MLS have to, they are a sales driven company and need people to purchase the new shiny c**p they peddle to survive, if they were a software as a service company they would not make it all you need to do is read some of the threads around on how bad their support and hosted options are.

There are open source alternatives https://koha-community.org/

They're a Capita company so what do you expect!!

Our librarian had a quick look around and all the other paid for solutions were dearer than MLS or it was Open Source and we simply dont have the time to do anything like exporting the data etc. ourselves so Open Source is out and as the others came back more expensive we're stuck with MLS!

We also ended our subscription to Micro Librarian and migrated it over to https://koha-community.org/. It's opensource and requires Linux skills to set up and our librarian finds it much easier to use. Only downside is the manual import/deletion of new students as there is no AD or MIS automation.

Peninsula QuickTrack Pro for schools is a fraction of the cost of MLS, and is stored locally. The Tech support helped me port my books and student data over from MLS

It can automatically import users from active directory. It's in the manual:
