Hi all,

I've been asked to implement a message that says "Are you sure you want to save this?" with Yes/No/Cancel options which only needs to show for students who are marked as absent when a member of staff saves a register . I've never really come across this before but the member of staff who has requested it assured me that another school has implemented this.

Could anybody advise me on how I could go about implementing this?

Thanks a lot in advance

Nat

Is that definitely the functionality that they saw, and was it definitely in SIMS? Unless functionality is available as an option through the UI, you can't modify SIMS to do this (and I've never seen that option before). A reference to the other school and possibly a contact could help here, even if it's just to confirm that they're mistaken.

That's also what I thought. To be honest, this particular staff member would probably say that it was done elsewhere just to try and make the IT department do it. I've seen that people have modified their config.ini's to add drop downs etc but never before have I seen someone talk about changing the GUI. Thanks for confirming my suspicions!

I'll get back to them and ask for more contact details as I don't think that this is something that anybody does.

Might they be thinking of the warning that pops up if you leave some marks blank on a register? This just warns that students left blank will be populated with Ns but gives you the option to not proceed (although the options are Yes, No with no Cancel option.

No. It does ask you "are you sure you want to quit without saving" if you try and close SIMS down when you have an active/unsaved register on the screen.

It doesn't ask "are you sure you want to save this" and as far as I can remember never has asked that.

Most likely! I did think that this might be the case.

If you're changing an already-completed register it asks, IIRC.

Thanks for letting me know!

They may have seen PARS from TASC Software (its a SIMS partner program) it does this and also shows a headcount

Hmm, I can't say that I've ever heard of those before, but thanks for letting me know! I'll have to drop an email to the school's IT department to ask if they use these pieces of software at all. Maybe it was this?

Thanks all for replying, I've let the member of staff know that it's not something that can be done natively in SIMS.
