I hope they cover the story from The Children of Hurin as its a bit more grown up then all the hobbit movies which I personally wasn't much of a fan of.

Oh this could be very interesting.

 

They could make anthology series' plucking the best bits out of the Silmarillion. The story of Gondolin and the demise of Beleriand, the tale of Numenor and its fall, Beren & Luthien, The Last Alliance.

 

And that's before you even get to the Third Age!

I hope they make it with a lot of reference to JRR's writings and don't just do "GoT in Middle Earth" or "attractive young people in skimpy costumes ponce around in Middle Earth". Edited November 14, 2017 by LeMarchand

This could be a great thing as Amazon are looking for a killer product to kickstart their video streaming and as a result, might take this seriously. On the other hand, I worry because Jeff Bezos has used GoT as a reference for the sort of product he is looking for. I love GoT and I wouldn't mind if they were able to make something of similar quality but there is also chance of a pale imitation that is neither LoTR or GoT.

 

At the end of the day, more Tolkien can never be a bad thing right??!

Well there's no shortage of material for them to use, if you read The Silmarillion there's plenty of fantastical tales to be had from Middle Earth and indeed beyond!!

Plenty of stories to be told there I'd say.

 

If they're sticking to the movie universe, then they've got storylines they can build with legolas.

Then there's the hunt for Gollum.

Then there's Aragorn in disguise as Thorongil when he does work for both the King of Rohan and the Steward of Gondor.
