Here all the teachers have school owned cameras. The devices are set to a low quality in the settings on the camera.

Our policy states teachers and students must not use personal devices to take photos. (GDPR!)

Sophos whitelists USB devices, thus blocking all unknown personal devices.

I guess this is on Sophos Enterprise Console. I had a look at that but it didn't give me the quick fix i was after.

I'm sorry, your iPhone photography qualification is out of date because we're now on iOS 12.

 

Can't you just buy a few more 8TB hdds, they're not that expensive.

Ironically one of the features of iOS 11 is the ability to take photos in the new HEIF format which would solve @timbo343's disk space issue (if the students were using iPhone 7/2017 iPad Pros or newer) since they are around half the file size of a comparable JPEG while offering better image quality.

 

Photoshop CC 2018 (released last month) supports HEIFs.

I run selected users images through fotosizer and drop the resolution down to something more suitable. Also make sure you have disk quotas in place
