Smartboard Calibration 12 inches off

1. Smartboard has been updated; calibrated; replaced and still when you place a pen on the board it moves about 12 inches to the right or left.

I think this is an interference issue but just guessing as I have tried everything else.

Is the whole board affected? or just one area?

What model of board?

Have you tried with the bottom screws loosened to ensure board not warped/twisted?

Are screen resolutions correct for the board ratio?

If the line is bouncing back and forth (that is, if you draw a straight line and it looks like a heartbeat monitor) then it could be interference.

 

One trick I've found, if you're still in the dark ages like us and using VGA connectors: connect a wire from the VGA mounting screws to the earth pin of the mains connector on the back of the projector. I know it may sound weird, but after having several Smartboards doing this I gave it a try and not had the problem since.

Try resetting the controller on the right hand side of the board if like ours we have many SB680.

 

Also remove the screws at the bottom to rule out electrical contacts.

 

Also if you can foil wrap some cardboard and place it behind the whole board see if it fixes the issue.

 

Also make sure if you are extending the USB cable over 5mtr, use a powered hub or active repeater extender.

 

If all else I’ve mentioned fails then you may have a faulty board.

Talk to smart but these are some of the things they will tell you

check board not damaged

Check if board is flat and not bent no lumps behind board

Change usb lead for small one and try a different computer

Update firmware

Try a different control board off a working one.

Also try

 

Try active usb leads rather than standard

 

Try hard resetting the controller. Depending on the model you hold the reset button in for set number of seconds

 

If your lead from the board to the pc is really long try usb over cat5. I had a pc that involves a 22m usb cable showing similar symptoms the op describes. I replaced the usb cable with cat 5 and put powered usb to cat 5 converter.

One of the most Expensive solutions but it worked when nothing else that had already been suggest did
