Greetings all,

We are using Sibelius 8 and we're finding that student users are unable to print. I am convinced that it is a permissions issue somewhere on the PC rather than sibelius itself as staff users have no issue. When we select print, there simply is no preview, just a blank page, although it does show how many pages it would print if anything were there. But confirming the print simply does nothing. Does sibelius create temp files somewhere that students don't have access to?

Thanks in advance for any thought.

Have a look at your SRP rules for students - it's quite possible that it generates a file in AppData or similar which is in your restricted list, or points to a folder like ProgramData that staff may be able to write to but students can't. You may need to start with a test user and by copying your GPOs to new policies which you can modify and test on that account.

We don't have any SRP rules for Sibelius. We can't even access printer properties and clicking Page Setup just crashes the program. Yet any other software we have no issue.

It wouldn't be a rule for Sibelius as such, it would be on a more generic folder that Sibelius may be trying to use. Another possibility is that Sibelius doesn't like that printer driver, but that's only if you're trying different printers between staff and student accounts.

Using my own user I have no issues at all, it is only as a pupil, so to me that rules out the driver. Powershell is the only thing we're denying in SRP by the looks of it.
