[sims] SIMS Home Access

Hi all,

 

I have been asked to look at ways teachers can access SIMS from home for lesson planning, completing reports/marksheets etc. We used to use SLG, but staff really struggled with it, we have just invested in the SIMS Parent and Student App, can the teacher app do reports etc?

 

Can anyone recommend anything else? I have heard good things about Insight, but as we already have the parents app, is the teachers app worth it?

We just use normal RDP/RemoteApp, full everything then, no need to buy something specific for SIMs really

Same here - been using it for years.

Yep no problems at all really (Well normal internet connection wise etc but that'd be same with any external stuff) Gives all staff access to everything externally on pretty much any device too

We got an IP address from our ISP along with an SSL certificate and had the ISPs DNS server point to our server.

Have you blocked local print and USB pass through? Just thinking of data breach implications.

You could look at other alternatives like TASC Software who provided a user friendly interface to the data, with less of the technical hassle.

Though I had thought the staff app allows access to reports and marksheets. I'm not sure about lesson planning though.

 

EDIT: Sorry, Insight is TASC, but you want PARS for the teachers.

What sort of price do the cutter group charge? Remote access and subsequently access to SIMS is on our roadplan for the next 12 months, happy to do it in house but if there is a costed option that may fit in the budget I would like to have that option
