compsue Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 We have some folders saved on our network and I cannot delete them. I've full admin permission but a message appears saying folder can't be found. Anyone know why? Thanks
mukz Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Hi Compsue, who owns the folder? If all else try downloading unlocker and see if that will help delete the folders
Arthur Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Do you have any Macs? There was an issue with OS X 10.9 where NTFS ACLs became corrupt and you couldn't delete the affected files/folders in Windows. www.edugeek.net/forums/mac/139279-updating-10-9-a.html#post1199314 https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/macenterprise/B0R5-WTGIrM
Killer_Bot Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 I'd take ownership of the folder and be sure to replace all child properties with that ownership too, then give yourself full permission and try again. Failing that I find Unlocker works wonders though can sometimes require the files be removed on reboot if they're really locked down.
round2it Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 I have found that 7zip can delete the files you require its something to do with long file names
compsue Posted October 4, 2017 Author Posted October 4, 2017 Hi Compsue, who owns the folder? If all else try downloading unlocker and see if that will help delete the folders Thanks, I'll have another look.
RJohnson91 Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 Yeah, this is normally long file names, I use Path Scanner Homepage - www.pathscanner.com I have an older free version , looks like they are charging now... maybe grab a trial?
jthompson Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 I've used FastCopy in the past for troublesome deletion jobs when other command line tools, 7-zip etc haven't worked.
