Flash videos through IE

Hi everyone

 

I hope this can be resolved quickly

 

I am getting a lot of videos problems since staff have come back after the summer which are being streamed from youtube and bbc bitesize etc

 

We have touch screen tvs and interactive projectors with speakers linked in going through HDMI

 

The problem we have got is playing through IE Chrome edge which is very odd when your using youtube and bbc bitsize which I have figured out that you can change some flash settings on the page to tell the sound to play through internal speakers or external.

 

This has only recently changed since we have come back after the summer and I don't want to be telling staff to do this on websites every time on multiple windows.

It also happens on interactive games for primary school resources where the sound does not come out of the tv speakers and it is set to laptop speakers.

 

It has nothing to do with the playback devices or the volume mixer as they are maxed out and the laptop does play sound out if you adjust the sound on the toggle and also you can play a cd through your laptop and play music through iTunes.

 

I hope this makes sense but very hard to explain over on text, please can anyone help

Does sound play but on the wrong output or is there no sound?

There is sound when playing through media player and iTunes on a hdmi lead and Iv tested it through a vga and audio lead. The problem is that the video is a flash content and its defaulted to internal speakers on a browser.

 

Each time I play a video through IE I have to change the settings on the video on bbc and select the external speaker which are the hdmi speakers on the tv.

 

Iv never had to do this until now , there must of been an update which has caused this problem.

 

I don't want to be telling staff to now use a different browser as they are familiar with what they use and especially Microsoft updates secure the browsers except chrome and fixfox

Normally video should play to what ever the default sound device is. Its possible its a driver bug with the hdmi out, have your tried updating the video card drivers?

Which version of flash are you using?

windows 10 for ie updates flash on Auto so probably the latest as my machines has windows updates on auto aswell

The only thing that comes to mind for me is to try uninstalling flash and then installing the latest debug version.

Mine does need an update as its new, I have dell support icon which keeps my drivers upto date and it is showing a graphics update. Most of the laptops are based on an image and does not have the manufactures addons like my dell driver update.

 

Most drivers are picked up through Microsoft update so I presume that there up to date

We have this issue too, not resolved it either yet.

 

It seems that its random on websites. One website would play sound through speakers on a video but on the next page it would only play through laptop speakers

It has been an issue in IE and Chrome for us.

 

I know Chrome has its own flash but its the Flash videos on websites we are having issues with. Flash videos downloaded work.

You can right click on the video of the webpage and click settings and underneath the speaker tab there is a selection to set it to internal speakers or HMDI or external speakers.

 

That works but you have to do it each time you load a new tab or a page

Yup, seen this too on some Flash SCORM content in Moodle on my PC (also on Windows 10, but was in Firefox). Drove me mad. Disabling the audio outputs I wasn't using worked fine, but if you need both HDMI and analogue it may be an issue.
