Hi All

Over the summer we had some building work completed in our science departments that involved the flooring being replaced. The VGA outbound and inbound cables appear to have been damaged as the colours being displayed through the projector are incorrect (red not displaying properly at all). The building company are wondering whether a wireless option would resolve the issue and not result in the flooring being dug up to replace the VGA cables. I have heard of "Lightbox" device but don't know where to source one.

Is there a wireless option available?

Regards

Some of our offices/meeting rooms have these for external visitors etc.

Nyrius ARIES Prime Wireless Video HDMI Transmitter & Receiver for Streaming HD 1080p 3D Video & Digital Audio from Laptop, PC, Cable, Netflix, YouTube, PS4, Xbox One to HDTV/Projector (NPCS549UK) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B009E6R89C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_2xtZzb6GFXY0Z

Our last 20 new classrooms all have floor boxes with vga and HDMi Cables run as part of the wiring loom so that we have an instant backup.

I'd say it's analogous to network connections: WiFi is pretty good, but there's no way you'd spec a classroom/office a a network point.

If they want to pay for that as an interim to get you to half term and then fix it properly, it would seem like a reasonably offer...

+1 for Microsoft Miracast adapters, we're rolling them out in our school. £40 each, work brilliantly, although only with Windows 10 devices, so hopefully you're up to date! :)

We've used Apple TVs with AirParrot (~£6/device) to good effect in our science labs.

However, I'd also make them dig up the floor / run a fresh VGA during the summer hols.

Dig it up over the summer hols? That would mean 1year without a VGA connection!!

I blame whoever necro'd a thread from September 2017 in June 2018.
