Ultra short throw projectors - Whats ones

Just had a mirror door die on a A111 (yep it took 7 years to go....)

 

What ultra short throw projectors do people recommend now a days? (we only have a few rooms with ultra short throw projectors on and seem to last years without being touched..)

 

They all seem £££. Dont want to spend £600 on a projetor...

I'm afraid you'll be paying that for most ultra short throws by anyone trustworthy The cheapest decentish ones I know of are the hitachi 2505 I think and they're usually just above the £600 mark.

I was trying to avoid them.. Dont like the brackets...

 

Think its going to be one of those. Room got a high celining for a normal projector.

We have NEC UM250X, 280x and newest is UM301w. Pretty reliable

I don't recall what we bought last time, but I found this website helpful - https://www.projectors.co.uk/

 

It displays the throw ratio on the results page so you don't have to keep opening up each individual projector to see the info you need.

We had mirror doors die on our Hitachis, but there is a setting to keep them open, so this stops the motor activating and we just persuaded the door open and then it stayed open, worked a treat and saved us splashing out on a new unit. It's a bit gimmicky anyway the whole door thing on these.

Could you share the settings?

If you end up buying new ones, it's worth noting that Hitachi gave up on the doors and just use a lens to project through, so it won't be a problem with future models.

It was a couple years ago now, but it could be find in the menu with the master remote (we had teacher remotes with limited functions)

 

Failing that, you could always just disconnect the motor if you can't find the setting?

The Epson short throws we use are perfectly fine for the job - I've just seen an EB-485W with around 2500 hours on the lamp and still looking pretty good. Maybe a little pricey but you do get what you pay for...

We've got 5 of the Epson eb470 models which have all been fine over 4 years or so. One school has the the touchscreen wi version which staff really like.

Just had a quote back from a supplier. £450 for a hitachi short throw and wall mount.

The epson range all the way, purchase and bulb costs are good plus we network all of ours monitor them remotely and can turn them off when the teacher leave them on!

Not had a chance to set it up yet but they also have a network broadcasts option which can show the same content on all of them at the same time, great feature for open evenings.
