Users home folder owner stuck on fetching

Hope someone can help.

 

We use a macmini server with a promise storage device attached. The storage device hosts all the shared home folders for the students. Mac clients are bound to AD & OD & when the student logs in their home folder gets created on the storage &a shortcut to their share is placed on the desktop.

 

All was well until the start of the next academic year when returning students would have their AD accounts reset. They would log into a mac, get a keychain error (they would create new keychain) & login. The issue is the shared storage shortcut has a no entry sign on it so they cannot access their home folder. If I log onto the server & view the properties of their home folder the owner is stuck on fetching. I've tried removing the owner & reading but it does the same.

You may need to change the permissions to match the users.
