Group Policy for VPN users

Hi Edugeekers,

 

Quick question, Im setting up a VPN system for our users to work remotely on their surface pro's. I know i need to allow them to "dial in" but can i make a group for VPN users and only people in that group be able to access it?

 

If so, how?

I assume that you are using Windows Server VPN?

Yes you can by configuring NPS. Here's a good guide: Configure VPN in Windows Server 2012 R2 - TechGenix

You can then setup an AD security group for users that are allowed access.

Just wondering, have you considered DirectAccess? It's a lot easier for end users to use and far more robust.

As for DirectAccess, Is there licencing with it? I'm open to ideas if its included with the windows product! Ill do some research and let you know!

Depending how you set your VPN up you normally assign a group i.e. VPN users you add them in there then they can VPN in, anyone else is a no.
