emmaburt26 Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 I've just returned from my summer break to make sure everything is ready for September and have found that over the summer the C drive has been reformatted by our IT providers (without a back up) and this was where the most recent version of the timetable in Nova T was saved (along with the backup of it) Why the C drive? well i had noticed that it was saving timetable models there and over time had saved versions on the normal place on the Sims drive but my latest copy was on the C drive. I have a version that is 5 days old and lots of changes were made in the last week of term to finalise things, add roomings etc etc so i'm mightily miffed that i don't have this latest version. Any ideas anyone? can you reverse out a copy of the timetable from sims to nova? anything please HELP!!
Banjo Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 I'm not an IT expert, but the file may not be lost. I've used this Recover My Files Data Recovery Software is the past to recover files. You just have to hope that the sector on the hard drive where the TT files where has not been overwritten with new data. Get your ICT provider to take out the formatted hard drive ASAP plug it into a laptop with an external serial to usb cable with the evaluation copy of the above installed on it. Let the program run to see what it finds on the disc. If it finds the TT files then they will need to purchase the full version the recover them. There are other apps that will do similar things on the internet.
emmaburt Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 Thanks for the suggestion IT are having a look at it right now to see if they can recover it. fingers crossed!
oldtimer Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Has that file been exported to SIMS? If so it can be recovered from SIMS using Nova
oldtimer Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 To extract from SIMS the process is... In Nova, create a Maintenance Set (use the 'load other file' option). Set a from and to date of 1 day when that version is active. Save the file when it is created and close Nova Reopen Nova and 'load other file' again This time 'Create a Construction Set' One of the options is to create it from a maintenance set (use the file you just created)
iansimpson888 Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 To suck back the last T6 file submitted to SQL (SIMS) you just need to have Nova open, then select: Data > Load Dataset > Create Construction Dataset Next Login with SIMS ID/Password Give it a name, date range and comment Next Select SQL Dataset Next Finally pick the file from the list that you would like to recover - then click Finish Hope that helps, if it's not too late
emmaburt26 Posted August 29, 2017 Author Posted August 29, 2017 I've just come back in today and they have found some files but there is just an error when i try to open them. I'm just looking at your instructions for importing it from sims, i thought there would be a way but didn't know how. Thanks for the info, fingers crossed this works.
emmaburt26 Posted August 29, 2017 Author Posted August 29, 2017 IT WORKED!!!!! thanks everyone for your help 1
