Guest sheel Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 (edited) I got my happy birthday email today. Thanks. I logged on to try to leave Edugeek as I no longer work in the IT field. I couldn't find in the email or on the site how to leave/unsubscribe. Can anyone help please. Thanks. Edited August 14, 2017 by john Fixed the super loud font!
6Foot2 Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 Wow! Too loud! More seriously if you message one of the Mods they should be able to help. HTH. 1
Guest sheel Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 Sorry. I didn't know how big the text would be until I posted the message. I suppose I could class the messages as spam. I thought there was supposed to be an unsubscribe link in emails and on sites.
6Foot2 Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 I understand that the new version of Edugeek will have the facility to remove your account. Unsubscribe here will only remove your interest in this thread. @elsiegee40 @witch @Dos_Box @SYNACK @ZeroHour Above I have tagged several Mods. Someone should be in touch soon.
elsiegee40 Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 At present you must contact @ZeroHour to leave 1
Zoom7000 Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 Curiously, this is quite a nice place even if you don't work in IT anymore. I see you've found the general chat forum, you'll find quite a lot of interesting non-IT chat here. You're always free to go, but if you really don't wanna use Edugeek, just ignore it? Also...
southhamster Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 You can check out any time you like but you can never leave...... 4
ZeroHour Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 All being dealt with. I will be making a FAQ to help point people to the right place.
CavTech Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 Where is the FAQ, as I too wish to leave.... I no longer work in educational IT so have no need for this site.
CavTech Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 Network Manager in a school isn't a real job though, is it... it's one of those general dogsbody jobs that just happens to have an elevated name giving the impression it is of some value.
elsiegee40 Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 Where is the FAQ, as I too wish to leave.... I no longer work in educational IT so have no need for this site. A pretty high proportion of members no longer, or never did, work in education. This site was created for those in schools but has long since become a haven for anyone in need of the support of other IT professionals. That said, anyone wishing their account to be removed, or to change their posting name needs to message @ZeroHour. He is the site admin. We moderators don’t have his magical powers. 1

Oh. 24 years not so well spent then? More seriously, not a dogsbody job, although I was often treated that way. My schools would not have been able to operate without a Network Manager in place. 1

This is a bizarre thing to say @CavTech. And this isn’t the thread to debate it. If you want your account to be deleted then please contact @ZeroHour.

My life is a lie...... all this time i thought i was doing a job it turns out its a fake job! I better just stop and let all these vulnerabilities take root and servers to break.... *Obvious troll is obvious* If you get paid for a job I'd say that's a real job!
LeMarchand Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 We moderators don’t have his magical powers. Hold on! Does this mean we were never in danger of becoming amphibian? 1
