mikeprice Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 Not always.... https://www.cornwalllive.com/news/local-news/sparks-fly-driver-takes-cornwalls-2751272.amp PS. Don't try this at home. Or anywhere else actually. Reminds me of a group of us in a car when we were about 18 or 19 an old battered MG passed us and pulled in front - no surprise as we were in Taffy Jenkin's fiat with 5 teenage boys in it ! Anyway as we went along the rear quarter of the MG was being well illuminated by showers of sparks coming from the exhaust which seemed to be attached by string One of us wonder what the metal box thingy was that most of the sparks were surrounding We realised that it was the FUEL TANK and if it was in the same condition as the rest of the car this seemed a little ill advised My a major effort Taffy managed to accelerate his Fiat past the MG and we all waved like mad for them to pull over when they did John - who was the most clean cut and sensible looking - went over and explained the problem - a couple of us went over to help and a short pull disconnected the exhaust in a shower of dust and everyone went on their way I still remember watching the MG driving along with sparks surrounding the rusty fuel tank!!!
southhamster Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 Oh dear, was that me? I once had an MG midget that dropped it's exhaust pipe in 2 pieces. Luckily a coke can and 2 jubilee clips got me home (noisily) 1
southhamster Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 Spotted at our local steam railway station.(they are running fake Polar Express trains for Christmas). It's very atmospheric hearing the whistle at night. 1

AlistairB1983 Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 That's just Bristol spelling! I've found where the missing T has ended up - seems it snuck into your spelling of Brisol! 1

Dos_Box Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/calderdale-council-cycle-lane-money-b2266549.html Ok they have explained it - at the end of the article but I suspect no-one who has ever ridden a bike on a road designed it My father (long since retired) was the chief road safety officer for Lancashire and he explained these little anomalies to me some time ago. Basically, it all adds to the 'we 'x' amount of cycle ways in our area'. When you are out and about you'll often see stretches of 'cycleways' which are no more than a few meters long. They all add to the total and paint is cheap. But agreed, that one is a little bizzare!
