OK so we upgraded to Windows 10 last summer on 1511. Now want to go to 1703 this summer. Have run the 1703 upgrade and it breaks the Start Menu. So tried creating a new default profile following the same procedure as

we did on 1511 and everything works fine apart from the start menu does not even appear. Even on a fresh install.

Has anybody got an updated guide on creating a local default profile that they have used on 1703?

So you create a mandatory profile, but don't rename to .dat file to .man. Do you then replace the local default profile with the mandatory profile you just created?

Guys, I had nightmare issues copying the default profile so that the Start Menu worked. Been scratching my head and mumbling expletives for hours. I finally found a solution that I think is exactly what I need - I dismissed it for ages as others said it didn't work with Windows 10 but it turns out the latest version (1.1) does.

Last option on that page. Extract somewhere accessible to local admin account and run from Admin elevated command line defprof

I am so happy this works :) As always, use your own judgement on this to make sure it's appropriate for your environment... MWB and McAfee Enterprise were both happy with it.

Cheers
