Do you all just delete marksheets when the summer hols come along, or keep them attached to templates?

 

Assuming most won't work after the new timetable comes along anyway so they ought to be "culled" ?!

Thanks Phil, though I do know this (!!) - I was wondering if some kept, say, the year group marksheets, or department ones for example - or will they not work properly in the new academic year? - as keeping classes, in most cases, won't work, unless your timetables are identical...

Keep them throughout the holidays as staff may want to come in and find their grades. Saves them ringing you on holiday saying nothing is working.

It also depends on how you have made the marksheets in terms of contextual groups. User defined or ethnicity/SEN you might want to keep as they can span year groups.

 

If they are linked to NCY/Reg then delete and recreate next year as has been suggested.

 

Some schools still have marksheets dated back to 2004 in their lists.....

I keep my templates - it's just the marksheets themselves which are frequently out of date.

 

Come September I delete and recreate as I go through the template checking that the right columns are still in use etc.

You can always set the date back both when searching for marksheets, or viewing data/grades in them.

 

I'd probably be inclined to wait until after any performance manager days happen before pruning though - as it avoids the "i'm trying to find out the MTG's for my gcse group last year to compare to their results" sort of questions.

 

I'd do a search for all marksheets and see how many come up (And how long that takes) and then decide if it's worth cutting back - you might find there are some old exams organiser marksheets around that can be removed for instance - and equally really old ones - but keeping last years one's is likely to avoid you having to do any work when queries come up mid year - after all, most GCSE/A2 courses are 2 years.

I add 'z' to the front of old template names to throw them to the end of the list. That way I can always go back. Remove the classes, and make inactive.
