We've noticed that the Microsoft .NET 4.7 Framework appears to be causing the SOLUS 3 Agent UI to crash on load. Removing .NET 4.7 and rolling back to an earlier version of the .NET framework seems to get the Agent working again. Has anyone else experienced this at all?

Is .NET 4.7 compatible with SIMS and accompanying software?

Spotted a post on My Account this morning. Seems to affect devices with .NET 4.7 and the SMART software installed? This would tie in with the couple of devices we've had to address. They did have SMART version 11 installed.

I spoke too soon, 4.7 is causing the agent to disappear from the notification area when it is hovered over. We don't have any SMART software installed. @Bubbles I can't see that post on My Account, I'd be very grateful if you could post a link to it.

We've just discovered our third machine affected by this. Lots of other machines appear unaffected, though.

The first two affected machines couldn't run SIMS .net or the SOLUS3 agent. We reimaged the first and the second fixed itself (?).

The third machine (which has SMART software installed) could still run SIMS .net, but the SOLUS3 agent crashed on launch, as did another .net application. As with @robyholmes, Running the .NET Framework 4.7 repair made no difference, but removing it, restarting and installing afresh fixed it.

Thanks @Bubbles, I'm not able to view the thread so I've been on to SIMS this morning to ask them to check my permissions are right.

Cheers.

I can't see it either- just get a blank page with the forum header - a suspicious mind would say they are trying to hide something

It is within the 'SIMS Support Units' area. if you are a single school accessing it, rather than a support unit, it might explain why you are unable to access the thread.

Makes me glad I got so fed up of it not working that I removed SOLUS 3 from all my clients and deployed the updates to clients using SCCM - so much more reliable!

Only use SOLUS 3 for server now

Hello Guys,

This is what you need to do to fix this issue: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/4020302/the-net-framework-4-7-installation-is-blocked-on-windows-7-windows-ser

Just download the necessary Windows update for your systems (32/64bit) and start your SOLUS 3 agent after the update installed. it should fix the issue and you can use .NET 4.7 with your SIMS/SOLUS 3 installations.

Cheers!
