Loss of wired connection

I've got a computer that keeps losing its network connection randomly. The computer is connected to a network socket which goes back to a patch panel. I've changed the module in the socket, the computer and all the cables except the one running from the socket to the cab. The connection is fine for a while and then it randomly stops working, any ideas?

When you say the computer, do you mean the NIC ? I've had a few lately that do similar and I just replaced with a new one

I'd have a look for any RX/TX errors on switch port, try different patch cable from patch panel to switch if not done. After doing that maybe try looking at changing switch ports??

 

What model PC and switch??

 

And as @caffrey mentioned try a different network card in PC if possible.

@caffrey - Yes, the NIC and it's onboard. I've already swapped the computer with another with the same model of mobo.

@Davit2005 - Already tried a different patch cable and switch port. Mobo is a Gigabyte H61M-S2PV Rev. 2.0 and switch is a Meraki MS220-48LP.

Is it possible to add a pci NIC ? Just to test, maybe a Realtek or Intel instead of the Atheros ?

Unfortunately I haven't got any. I'll have to put a laptop which has a Realtek in its place and see what happens. It's the only place this is happening.

I always replace the NIC as first call if everything else is working okay - have you checked the cable run with a lan tester ?

Yeah, I mean I was hoping swapping the computer would solve it but it hasn't I have and everything checks out! Baffled.

Power management? Can you try unticking the 'allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' in the properties of the card? Check the power plan too.

 

Just something else to try although it does just sound like the card is borked.

Plugged in a laptop and that's getting nothing either now. Something terminal I think.
