Morning,

Looking into moving a school who has .sch.uk email accounts onto O365 and was wondering what process people would advise?

The new school has come under our MAT and requires to be moved over to our system. Am I right in thinking that the best way is to add the new domain under our O365?

Is there a way of them keeping their emails and transferring it over to O365 and their new accounts?

As I've inherited a lot of the setup the current school email setup is all manual i.e new staff user, log in to O365 create new account and same for A.D. Is this an ideal time to change it or start differently for the new school?

Any advice would be appreciated.

In our MAT we have all schools on the same Office 365. (until we move to gmail in the summer)

You can migrate email yes. What old email system do they use?

We use Azure AD Sync here. Works well. We are all on the same AD domain though. Not sure if you are?

They will be separate domains yes and i'm thinking at the moment that because there are not going to that many email accounts 10-15 i'm estimating and therefore doing it manually will be fine, but there are potentially more bigger schools going to be coming on board and it's an opportunity to trial the migration with few users and find out what issues crop up on a smaller scale before having to sort lots more accounts in the future.

Need to check on their email system, but i'm guessing easymail!

It is basically an IMAP migration. I have done it twice BUT we do not integrate with AD so things might be different. I did it with a CSV (i think easymail gave me info on how to do it?)

The HT in this school basically told me that he only wanted SLT and a few choice accounts migrated, everyone else got a month to go through their emails and then it all went and they started afresh. Certainly saved me a lot of hassle - my other school wanted them all migrated and it was a pain. Microsoft 2nd line support were absolutely brilliant though
