Hi folks,

I have copied a task sequence that I've used successfully on another child domain.

I have changed the Apply Network Settings task so that it joins this other child domain, and I've picked the relevant details from AD for both domain and OU. I've confirmed that the relevant child domain admin account is used, and the correct password has been entered.

Once the task sequence has finished the PC has not been added to the domain, and is in the workgroup.

I've had a look at SMSTS.log on the client, but at a guess the length of the log is too short, as it doesn't reflect the entire task sequence and I can't see mention of any error.

Can anyone advise on what the issue could be?

Thanks

On initial thought, Drivers? Otherwise it could be the order of ur ts sequence?(but as you say you copied this from a working one i doubt it)

Can you post a snap of your ts sequence?

I had a look in the NETSETUP.log, and it looks like it's a failure to put the PC into an AD OU. The item specified in the task sequence is the default Computers folder, so technically not an OU. This seems like the same problem, so will try again without specifying an OU and see what happens https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/cc63dd11-83f9-4b70-82e3-8f13f28cd65e/domain-join-fails-in-task-sequence?forum=configmgrgeneral

To confirm it was definitely that. Removed the text from the "Domain OU" field under "Apply Network Settings", and now the machine quite happily joins the domain.
