I need a robust, water-resistant phone with a decent (3-4 weeks) standby battery life.

I've been looking at phones aimed at contractors such as the KAZAM Life R6, but that model has reviews suggesting the keypad lock doesn't lock out emergency numbers and it's too easy to pocket-dial.

Given the phone will mostly be turned off and just powered on at set times of the day to check for messages, it's not the end of the world, but...

...has anyone bought a "so you're going to the middle of nowhere" phone recently?

I've got something like a Nokia 110 in my bag with a PAYG sim for emergencies when the Samsung doesn't want to play ball or no signal etc. Just a basic phone but last weeks.

The new 3310 is out too I believe, not sure on spec of them yet.

I'm considering an unlocked 150. Not sure about the new 3310 - reviews have been "meh" and I suspect it won't be as robust as the original (my 3310 and an 8210 survived being run over).

Unless things have changed, all PAYG phones from Carphone Warehouse are unlocked - even if you buy them with a SIM and credit.

Doro phoneasy mobile in tesco £6.

I use them for motorbiking (can use with my gloves) and for the fact that they are good for calls and texts when every other network has no coverage - like north west Scotland. I could text my dad whilst in the lowlands!
