Looking for a free alternative to Photo Story for teachers that want to create slideshows, and preferably something that includes DVD authoring ability. Photostory only saves in WMV so thats a pain when trying to find a free DVD authoring software so it would be nice to find an all in one solution.

Windows movie maker does DVD authoring. Its not available from Microsoft but you can find it via google. You have to download Windows Live Essentials, but you can then use the following to install just the movie maker components:

"wlsetup-all.exe" /silent /AppSelect:MovieMaker /noceip /NOToolbarCEIP /NOhomepage /Nolaunch /nosearch /nomu /r:n

Just used https://www.dvdstyler.org/en/ for our film studies submission not bad. I will do slideshows with transitions and music. But usually, for celebration end of year type of things we use powerpoint and export as mp4. Drop 20 photos on a slide ctrl-a style it like a photo, jaunty angle them the transition fade after other with a delay of a few seconds. export that import that into movie maker or premier for titles and music.

We used DVDStyler this year to burn their PhotoStory videos but the output quality was terrible. We used to use Movie Maker but it has been pulled by MS and I have yet to find a link that doesn't just point to the MS website. Does anyone happen to have a good link?
