fiza Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 (edited) I got a quote from a well known reseller and it came in at £678! I have seen one on Ebay from Lambdatek from only £216.01. Hugh price difference! I presume that I won't get a warranty from HP if I buy the one from Lambdatek ? Just seen this from an older thread http://www.fs.com/products/11564.html Anyone bought from fs.com? synaesthesia Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 Yes, use them often and the products are great. We bought a pair of official HP ones for £670 - 335 each. Shop around and you should be able to get the same price, however compatibles are certainly worth a go. We went original as it's for a mission-critical link between our two sites. We tested with a pair of Mikrotik modules which were about £40 each.
localzuk Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 I am considering buying from fs.com too. Price for originals (for the X132 - J9150A) is £195 each. On fs they're £15 each for compatibles...
fiza Posted May 12, 2017 Author Posted May 12, 2017 This transceiver is going in our core switch as the current transceiver linking to the switch in the main office is playing up so I currently have the 2 switches connected via 1Gb link. At £15 on fs.com is it worth a punt?

synaesthesia Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 That was a local company to us, AMC Computer Supplies in Kettering. Box shifters hence you shouldn't have difficulty getting similar.
fiza Posted May 12, 2017 Author Posted May 12, 2017 Just had a look on their actual site and Lambdatek are selling an HP transceiver for £158 ex VAT. I might just get one of these and one from fs.com aswell. - - - Updated - - - That was a local company to us, AMC Computer Supplies in Kettering. FragglePete Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 I've been buying from http://www.gbics.com - all our switches are HP and not had any issues on them. Pete
Wubbalubbadub Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 I asked the supplier i use at AMC, how much he charges. He told me £139. Give him a ring.. 01536 513 679 His name is Danny - but you get 10% off if you call him D-Dog.
whitte Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 I got all my optics for home use from fs.com. The compatibility of hpe modules is picky, but the J9152As I got works with no issues.
Kitkatninja Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 While we use a great range of suppliers, in general AMC normally come in the cheapest, they are great on price (I believe that they can do that for £139 - sorry not at work, on A/L so don't want to go thru our old orders), our account manager is Danny... Try him
Mark-wilde Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 I recently bought several SFPs and fiber patch cables from fs.com. Their prices are competitive, much lower ($6 each) than cdw.com. And the quality is great, too.
Mark-wilde Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 For my experience, the compatible optical transceivers that I bought from fs.com are quite compatible, you don't need to worry about the quality issue here.
