saggu Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Looking for Recommendation- Promethean, Smart or CTouch for a Primary School. Many thanks.
mjk Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 For price I like the BenQ https://www.avpartsmaster.co.uk/c-349-benq-interactive.aspx 1
jmak Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 From the demos I've had, I'd agree with@mjk, the BenQs look good, especially at their price point. However the feedback I've had from teachers is that the Smart Notebook software is more important than the hardware. Once you start looking at the price of adding a Smart licence to other boards, they're not far off on price. The Oktopus software that comes with the BenQs opens Smart files natively and would be more than acceptable if I was the user - so depends how fussy your users are.... You could download a full trial of Oktopus and try and persuade them of the benefits - like 50%more boards for the same money! 1
paulellam Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 We have Smart here, had interactive panels for 2 years and just added a 6065 V2 which is great board, much improved on the earlier versions.
ComcenCraig Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 The first questions that I always ask are what software are you currently using and do you wish to keep using it? Then you can start narrowing down which screens are going to be more applicable to you.
simonw Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 We've had some issues with interactivity on the SMART boards, but on the whole they've been great. The teachers use SMART Notebook, so were really keen to keep it. Have CleverTouch in another school and have had no issues (raised!) for a while. Initially the teachers had a learning curve with the Lynx software, but all seems well at the moment.
BenQ_Support Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 For price I like the BenQ https://www.avpartsmaster.co.uk/c-349-benq-interactive.aspx Thanks! We do have special pricing for Edu-geek forum members. If anyone is interested then feel free to drop me a DM. 3
jmak Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 If you decide on Smart panels, there seem to be some good deals around at the minute. It looks like the 4065s are being replaced with a new 4k version. I was sent a flyer for 4065 + Installation (including out of hours/weekend) + Training and + Smart learning Suite with 5 year warranty for £1799 https://rocheav.co.uk/4065
Zipsterr Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Looking for Recommendation- Promethean, Smart or CTouch for a Primary School. Many thanks. Hi Saggu, We have a mixture in the schools - Smart / Ben Q / and Genee - If it smart notebook you would like to stick with I would personally go the the Smart Panels. We also use the Genee screens which are compatible with smart and have a much better price point and great after sales in my experience. Hope that helps a little
saggu Posted July 15, 2017 Author Posted July 15, 2017 Thank you all for your input. A decision making question to choose between Promethean and Genee!! What does Genee offer that Promethean doesn't? All opinions are appreciated. Many thanks.
witch Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 We have both - and the Prometheans win hands down. The Genee boards are OK but they sometimes lose connectivity. Our staff love ActivInspire
saggu Posted July 18, 2017 Author Posted July 18, 2017 Is there any one who can organise Promethean interactive panel demo in a primary school in South eastern region in next 3 days (near London)? Many thanks
mjk Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Is there any one who can organise Promethean interactive panel demo in a primary school in South eastern region in next 3 days (near London)? lol I've spoke to two promethean re-sellers recently and each were adamant to get a Samsung or Panasonic unit respectively! If you really want to get promethean you're best calling them directly as they have a team of sales people who are there to justify the extra costs to you. They will be more than happy to organise a demo unit.
