Jive Music suggestions and Funeral Director opening hours question

Odd combo but, as expected, it's fallen to me to help out with arrangements for the West Country elderlies. One of my aunts recently passed and she and her hubby were very into ballroom dancing (their daughter was on "Come Dancing" back in the day when it used to me more about the dancing and less about the celebrities). My uncle is struggling to pick a great jive track to play at the funeral, so I thought I'd ask the collective for ideas (I'm guessing it's a bit of a long shot).

 

More likely is that someone knows the SP with Funeral Directors. I think I know what the answer will be if I ask them directly, but I'd like to find out what the "normal" rules are. Funeral is next Tuesday, but my uncle and the kids would like a "viewing" on Monday - which is a Bank Holiday. Are "out of hours" requests normally OK?

Sorry for your loss. One thing that surprised me was that some crems have restrictions on what you can play at a funeral (ie if it isn't on their list you can't have it - Southampton crem was like this when my dad died). Other crems will let you play anything you like (Barnsley were particularly helpful in this respect) If it is at a crem the Funeral Director should have a good idea of any 'rules' regarding music. As regards viewings I've always found that FD's will be pretty accommodating as it's a stressful time for the family and they will normally have someone on duty 365 days of the year. If it's at a Church I wouldnt have thought there would be any restrictions on music choices

Firstly my deepest condolences for your loss,

 

I recently had my Mothers funeral to take care of, the Crematorium, like most, should have access to a music database which they subscribe to and you pay for each musical number and this is automatically downloaded to the Crematorium for them to play through their system,

 

Check it out with the Funeral Directors they will know,

Thank you for your thoughts. FD seemed to think it was "anything goes" as far a music went, but they need the list in advance. The crem seem to want to source the music themselves (presumably d/l from Apple/Amazon etc) to avoid potentially skipping CDs etc but time is short, hence the recommendation request.

 

Good to know about the viewing; I'll confirm with the FD later. A bit worried that they might not be able to "open up" on a BH.
