Popular Post dry Posted April 19, 2017 Popular Post Posted April 19, 2017 Credit to herbertsimpson on HUKD. The following Mac/iOS apps are currently free: Keynote Numbers Pages iMovie Garageband I've just claimed plenty of iMovie and Garageband licenses through VPP for our school iPads. It's worth doing now as it's likely they'll return to being paid-for shortly. I think they've offered them for free before, but it was quite a while ago. Fill 'yer boots! 7
DavR Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 Looks like a conscious business decision rather than a fluke - https://www.macrumors.com/2017/04/18/apple-imovie-garageband-iwork-free-for-all-users/ - but still though, thanks for the head's up!
FN-GM Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 Another thread on it here http://www.edugeek.net/forums/educational-software/182686-pages-numbers-keynote-imovie-garageband-ios-macos-currently-free.html 1
kathabell Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 Thanks for the "heads up", just added 150 copies to our school MDM
GuyJD Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 Weren't they free anyway but you had to buy the extra instruments through in app purchases, is the whole thing free now then?
eddyc Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 Weren't they free anyway but you had to buy the extra instruments through in app purchases, is the whole thing free now then? Kind of. If you used a MDM you had to upload a proof of purchase to apple for your devices so you could get the apps in an assignable format
XiJ Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 They weren't originally free but did start with certain devices. I think back in 2013! But as above you had to claim them with invoice proof from Apple on some cases. Annoyingly one of our schools just bought ~30 pages licenses.

Apple's VPP team are very accommodating when it comes to crediting you back when something like this happens, I would email vpp support with a request for a credit for these. https://www.apple.com/support/itunes/vpp-edu/
