Hardware Reserved RAM

I've recently upgraded my PC (See spec below)

 

But windows is only using 16GB of RAM and states that another 16GB is 'Hardware reserved'

 

I got onto Gigabyte support about it and they were really good but eventually came back with their test bench using the same CPU,RAM and Motherboard as me and it's using all 32GB :/

 

Had a quick look around google but can't find anything that tally's up with what i'm experiencing.

 

Anyone had a similar problem?

Gigabyte AORUS AX370-K7

4 Slots, 8GB stick in each

And it's all the same memory make/model?

 

The manual seems to show that it is possible

Yepp all the same make and model came in the same pack!

 

Even Gigabyte said that it should work and even used the same make/model on their test bench and it worked.

 

I did a clean install of windows when i rebuilt, i have updated the BIOS since then though.

 

It originally had a problem where it wouldn't boot with more than 2 stick in, but the BIOS updated sorted that but basically rendered the other two useless!

Do you get all 32 GB if you use a linux live cd?

I agree, it's normally down to mis-match of memory.

Other random thought, does the mobo have onboard graphics? try disabling it or adjust the allocated ram to minimum.

What version of Windows are you using? Some home versions used to be limited to 16gb, don't know if they still are?

Windows 10 Home 64Bit will see 128GB - Pro/Enterprise/Education will see 512GB.

2666Mhz according to his sig, you may have hit the nail on the head there!

Lol was completely blind and missed the sig

 

I don't know if the bios update that was mentioned should have fixed it or not

I tried reseting the BIOS to defaults aswell (As i OC the CPU thought might of been something to do with that)

 

But still only came up with 16GB.

 

And yeah im running Windows 10 Pro creators update (Dunno if that's anything to do with it, was expecting 1607 but when i used the install tall it gave me the creators one)

Does dropping the RAM speed down to 2,133MHz or 1,866MHz make any difference?

I haven't tried changing the speed, will give that a go later aswell

Just tried it at various Mhz, when i try it on anything above 1333Mhz it restarts multiple times and does 3 long beeps.

 

But when i do it at 1333Mhz it just restarts and loads up but still has the 16GB in Hardware reserved, gonna try a good old reseat of RAM and then make a linux live disc

PROBLEM FOUND!

 

Faulty stick of RAM :/ 3 of the 4 work, once i figured out what the faulty one was i but the other 3 in and i've gone up to 24GB.

 

Now onto Amazon to get a replacement stick hopefully!

 

Also i've lost my overclock gotta do that again :/

Gotta say 5 stars to Amazon, my RAM is outside it's return policy but they still offered me a next day replacement!

New RAM in and BAM 32GB! Happy days, was showing only 2133Mhz, tweaked the BIOS settings and up to 2666Mhz now! #Winning!
