NEC VT440 Remote

Quick one, does anyone have a remote for an NEC VT440 remote control that they are willing to send my way. Got a local school that has one ceiling mounted and cannot reach to turn it on and off without the use of a garden cane, as ever budgets are not there, and been quoted £100 for a replacement! So the garden cane will be staying for a bit longer. Someone must be throwing one of these babys out as there not that impressive in spec.

would a programable one from argos not work?. I use a piece of software on my phone to control all the remote devices in school

As for a programmable Argos unit, no idea, I have some PDA software for remotes but the school doens't have a PDA to use, and I may support them but giving them my PDA is not an option at present. Any thoughts on how I know what programmable one will work? I need to turn it on and off and change the inputs as its mounted about 6 1/2ft from the floor, I can reach it and the head can sort of reach it but thats it without the cane or standing on a chair.

 

I saw Plextors post, and when I saw the same title I thought oooooh, but I don't have any others to steal from, I'm not a NEC Projector person myself, I'm an Epson dude really.

I could loan you one to copy clone but I'd need to get it back as it comes from one of our spares.

Thanks for the offer, I'll get a generic learning remote and then give you a nudge if thats okai as if I don't have the learning remote in my hand in advance I will easily loose that little NEC thing in my world of chaos on my desk.

I've got a desk like that! Apparently I have an installation disk that a teacher gave me.

You can also use the big nec remotes RD-394E 7N900382 doesn't have to be the credit card one.

I may have sourced one this evening, a big one actually from a different model from a friend of mine thats an AV Installer, its from his old hire unit but he's not hiring it anymore as its not suitable really so scrapping it and he will sell me the remote if it works for a few squid, so I will see what happens, but cheers guys for the offers and advise I knew the world on here would have answers and help
