Hi, we've recently switched to RM boradband with RM safety net. In the sales pitch, we were told that we could monitor individual user names to see what the little darlings have been searching or linking individual children to certain risk key words or searches. I can't find this anywhere when I log into RM safety net, I have found the filtering where I can block/unblock sites etc... but no monitoring features. Any tips to where I can find this or do I need to somehow link it to our server/user name data base (if so how? sorry I am very new!!!) Or I'm hoping it's not the last option which is were we mis-sold the product as a school and can you not see user names in RM. I have gone to RM support but I am going round in circle with them and not actually getting a clear answer. We have safety net plus if that helps.

Thank you, mimi

RM Support are normally pretty good - so that's a bad sign that they can't answer a simple question such as can this product produce reports by student.

Are the students logging in to any kind of portal screen so it knows who is on the PC?

I'm not familiar with the product but a brief google suggest it may not do what you need it too.....

For SEGfL it's a purchasable option that integrates with Active Directory. I think it uses RM's Unify technology to tie user accounts to sessions. It's certainly not enabled by default. I know of at least one local primary school who's bought into the service so it'd definitely possible (we use an alternative piece of software for logging web access and keyword matches etc).

I'd suggest speaking to your RM account manager. If you're not able to, I've got a contact at RM who I'm sure would be happy to point you in the right direction.

I rather dislike sales pitches when you are told it can do this ...and that.....only not told they are optional extra features which cost more. Like "ac" wireless access points - yes they can work off a 802.11af PoE...... but they don't tell you that is only if you disable the second radio....or limit the streams...

Have you installed the RM Unify AD Sync software? I'm in the process of rolling out the RM UBF at a primary (for staff only in our case though; pupils will continue to use the basic proxy).
