Last week, ARRIS International PLC announced its intention to acquire Brocade Communication Systems Inc.’s Ruckus Wireless and ICX Switching business. At this juncture, I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank you for your business, your loyalty, and your continued trust. Broadcom’s decision to divest Brocade’s IP business must have caused some uncertainty and concern and for this I apologize.

 

This independent business unit led by current Ruckus COO, Dan Rabinovitsj, will incorporate not only the Ruckus Wi-Fi portfolio but also the entire Brocade ICX Switching family including the Fastiron Operating System. Previously, under Brocade, the Wi-Fi and ICX engineering and management teams were consolidated and that’s resulted in a new range of low-cost, high-performance edge switches that complement the Wi-Fi portfolio.

 

Joining the ARRIS team will allow us to accelerate the pace of innovation and expand our industry leading networking portfolio to better serve you.

Have they said that they are not longer supporting or manufacturing or selling Ruckus kit as the way I've read it is that a different company now owns Ruckus?

Looks like Arris got a bargain too. Brocade bought Ruckus for $1.5bn last year. Arris have picked up Ruckus and the IP side of Brocade for $0.8bn. Absolute bargain!

As others have said its business as usual at Ruckus and we are not changing direction we still love the stuff even after the 10+ years of use its still a brilliant tool and part of our standard office kit in all locations globally for us

Same here. I'm standardising on it across our Trust. We're on our 4th generation of controller here.

The Ruckus part is going to be led by Dan Rabinovitsj, who has been at Ruckus for a number of years, which is a great sign. It also seems like the road map is all staying as is. Arris are a current Ruckus distributor for service providers, so they know the technology, which is also a bonus.

 

As mentioned they purchased the campus switch portfolio, which we foresee being branded Ruckus in the not so distant future, as they havent purchased any Brocade branding.

 

We have the partner conference coming up in May, so i'm sure we will hear more then
