Adding 'from' email addresses

Hi,

 

Just wondering if anyone knows if it's still possible to add a 'from' email address in a yahoo/google/outlook (or other) email account if you don't have a proper account for that email address (e.g. if it's forwarded from a domain that you own).

 

I've done this for my own domain names with yahoo, google, and outlook accounts in the past, but when I went to try doing it today for some new email addresses for our scout groups domain name, all of the options that I can find keep asking me to log into an email account.

 

Does anyone happen to know if this is/isn't possible anymore?

 

If it's not possible, does anyone know of any alternatives methods/services (preferably free) that a scout group could use?

If I go there, the only address listed is my outlook one, and it doesn't give me any option of adding in a different one if it's just a forwarding address.

You need to have added the alias first

Wish it was possible to do with google/yahoo mail as well, but at least outlook gets us going!

 

One other thing I was wondering, although less of an issue, I don't suppose there's a way of signing up for a Hotmail/outlook account without a mobile number? Would like to setup a separate account for our scout group, but not keen on using my mobile number if it can be helped as would like to keep it separate.

The only thing I'm aware they use the mobile number for is an authentication method in case you get locked out of your account (or for 2fa if you use it). On that basis, it's probably better it's yours than anyone elses....

I think you can do it with Google for Education.

You can do it in Google. Settings cog > settings > accounts tab > "send mail as" > enter the email address. If it is listed as an alias in Google Apps Admin or a group you're a member of, it is added immediately, otherwise I think you get sent a code to that address which you have to enter to verify the address.
