I recently installed Jetsoft's IT Suite 2000, however I have a few probs:

The files you can import/create with Count IT aren't associated with Windows. I manually created an association, had a look in the registry and exported to a file:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\jbr_auto_file]
@=""

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\jbr_auto_file\shell]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\jbr_auto_file\shell\open]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\jbr_auto_file\shell\open\command]
@="\"C:\\jetsoft\\COUNTIT.EXE\" \"%1\""

The plan here is to install the reg file silently at logon, so hopefully the association *.JBR is made for all users at machine level. Any problems with this?

The other problem I have is the application only supports saving to A:\ and C:\ drives. Most of the machines don't have a floppy drive and of course I hide/restrict access to C:\

Users have their own My Documents mapped as H:\ and other network drives. Anything I can do about this? It just means users cannot save work at the moment :(

The workaround I have offered is using Print Screen and pasting into MS Word and saving/printing this way (which works).

Many thanks

After battling with this problem, here's how I solved it:

By manually creating an association, this automatically creates the registry entries for me to export.

There are two entries under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT (searching for JBR):

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.jbr]
@="jbr_auto_file"

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jbr_auto_file]
@=""

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jbr_auto_file\shell]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jbr_auto_file\shell\open]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jbr_auto_file\shell\open\command]
@="\"C:\\jetsoft\\COUNTIT.EXE\" \"%1\""

And two under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE (again searching for JBR):

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\.jbr]
@="jbr_auto_file"

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\jbr_auto_file]
@=""

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\jbr_auto_file\shell]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\jbr_auto_file\shell\open]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\jbr_auto_file\shell\open\command]
@="\"C:\\jetsoft\\COUNTIT.EXE\" \"%1\""

There were some under HKEY_CURRENT_USER which I just deleted, as machine takes first priority over user, unless that user specifies something different to machine (which would make sense).

Once I exported the four seperate entries, I deleted all JBR entries from the Registry. Then by visiting File Types in Explorer the JBR extension no longer existed (as hoped). By re-importing all four entries, then re-visiting File Types, it's listed and more importantly the association works!

This guide should work with any custom file association. I'm unable to fix the Save issue, so the Print Screen and pasting into MS Word appears the only way.

I know its a bit late but if you greate a shortcut to the program and set the H: or whatever drive as the start in folder it uses that to save to.. it works with both mapped drives and UNC paths.
