PhilNeal Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 We'll be making an announcement in March. It's actually in the hands of pilot schools now. 1
burgemaster Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 Parentpay not working nicely is a bit of a dealbreaker for most people I would imagine. It's one of the most popular cashless systems. Work fine for us too 2
Bromcom_Marketing Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 Work fine for us too Hi @burgemaster Which MIS do you have? Is it cloud version? How long have you been using it?
burgemaster Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 Hi @burgemaster Which MIS do you have? Is it cloud version? How long have you been using it? Hi Bromcom Cloud and 3 Years 1
Banjo Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 Define live demo? Can you drive the demo or are you locked to controlled "demo" that isn't really anything more then a interactive video? Also demo is very different to been in production for years and years and years As Phil has said below, it's very close. I can only comment on what I have seen that has been shown in a public environment. Lets hope the news in March isn't Capita are launching the product in 2 years time :-)
Dark_Mark Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 Tum tee tumm... ...still awaiting the SIMS news. Maybe it's coming at BETT this week. That's just myself, two secondary schools, a sixth form and the nine primary schools in our MAT ...waiting. Do we stick, or do we twist? Once we have 'the news' and 'the availability'. How much will interested schools be 'assisting in development' or will this be full fat, all modules blazing and in the main be a fully functional product over a WAN. Still very interested though so far. 2 years time though will be 2 years 2 late for me. :-/
matt40k Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 When it comes to waiting for releases... don't hold your breath. Vapourware takes a while to become something-ware. 1
ajp233 Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 Secondary schools won't be getting an online version of SIMS for a while....unless they opt for hosted
Banjo Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 Secondary schools won't be getting an online version of SIMS for a while....unless they opt for hosted Capita's loss in market-share is in the primary sector, so bringing a Primary version to market first would make sense. 1

lesleyr Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 Cloud based SIMS not available yet. Unfortunately, we have been TOLD we are moving to Bromcom. Just a look at a demo database frightened the hell out of me because I can see staff members baulking at the sheer look of it. What is your experience with Bromcom?
pcstru Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 What is your experience with Bromcom? Generally quite good but we put a lot of effort into our implementation in terms of familiarisation, training and preparation (reports and any interfaces we use to support various business processes). Some senior managers seem to be concerned that we can't just go to another school and grab their configurations so we can spit out the correct numbers (which they seem to think we could if we has SIMS). However, the problem is more to do with them not being able to define what they actually want, rather than any inability of the system to deliver it. That problem would be the same regardless of the choice of MIS! 1
zag Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 (edited) Sims is a bit overkill for a primary school in terms of features, server resources and price isn't it? I would have thought moving to the cloud would be perfect for this type of academic institution. Edited March 17, 2017 by zag
Banjo Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 What is your experience with Bromcom? From my experience the 'people' would put me off doing business with them.
Bromcom_Jay Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 From my experience the 'people' would put me off doing business with them. I don't know if we have met Banjo - but some could take that personally... :-P Will have to arrange a coffee to see if I can't convince you we are all nice guys and gals!
lesleyr Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 If you are Jason then I think I am already booked to see you.
Banjo Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 I don't know if we have met Banjo - but some could take that personally I hope you do!
Green_Eggs_No_Ham Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 I've not been on these forums very long, but I'm going to weigh in. We get it, Banjo, you like SIMS. On other threads you've been very rude about the makers of Progresso - yes the product isn't all it could be but I do feel you've gone a little far. And now you're picking on Bromcom staff. I doubt anyone here approves and if I was not in such a terrible mood today I would leave you to it but I was looking for actual information about alternative MIS suppliers, instead I keep seeing you trolling anything non-SIMS. I can't form an opinion. Any chance you could rein it in please? 4
GREED Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 (edited) Play nice please... Let's not have the 4th emergency service come on down... Mods Edited March 24, 2017 by GREED 2
elsiegee40 Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 We are watching Please play nicely And please report posts that overstep the mark 1
Green_Eggs_No_Ham Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 Yup, sorry. And apologies all for detailing the thread, it was an interesting one. 1
mjk Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 I saw a really good demo of iSAMS at BETT. It's really worth considering. It works out a lot cheaper for us than SIMS and is all web based.
