Hi,

 

I'm a bit confuzzled about SFB and hope someone can help. We've got our domain setup on O365 which works lovely, I can use SFB in the outside world but its failing with DNS errors internally. Its probably something simple and I've followed this KB2566790.

 

Can anyone share their experience setting this up.

Is your external domain the same as one you use internally? Or maybe your DNS servers are giving out info for your external domain and you forgot to update them?

Its the same, shouldn't the internal DNS just point to the SIP stuff at sipdir.online.lync.com.

Do you have existing SIP/Lync/SfB DNS entries already in your internal DNS? Perhaps from a previous Lync setup? These will stop it from working if so.

This. If your internal Domain name is the same as your office365 domain and your public domain ("split brain'"), you need to have all the records added to your internal DNS zone as well as in the external DNS zone.

 

I.e your public DNA servers and your internal servers need the records described on this page:

You need to make sure your internal DNS also has the following as per your external DNS and then if you give it a test it should work.

 

CNAME - sip sipdir.online.lync.com 1 Hour

CNAME - lyncdiscover webdir.online.lync.com 1 Hour

 

SRV _sip _tls 443 1 100 1 Hour @ sipdir.online.lync.com

SRV _sipfederationtls _tcp 5061 1 100 1 Hour @ sipfed.online.lync.com

 

If you run in to issues; head over to https://diagnostics.outlook.com and download the tool to run diagnostics for you and perform the relevant tests for Skype and return results and advise you on next steps.
