Hi all,

Is there such thing as an HP DAC (Direct Attach Cable) for SFP (1Gb), not SFP+ (10Gb) which I'm already aware of! :)

If yes, what's the product number? Many thanks!

IIRC, 10Gb SFP modules are backwards compatible, so should work fine. Just double check, but I'm fairly confident.

I didn't think they were, I thought they varied in size ever so slightly but I might be wrong on these. I also thought they used different protocols, hence no direct compatibility.

I've never seen one - but there are SFP copper modules - J8177C, for example.

That's not what I was after, but close! :)

I'm guessing it's something like this you're after?

Correct! Cisco do a 1Gb DAC, but I can't find a HP one; although as I say HP do a 10Gb DAC.

If it's cheap enough, just have a stab at the Cisco one, we use Cisco 1Gb modules in our 10Gb dell switches and have used mixed brands in the past too, I'm not sure but the whole SFP branding thing seems to be a bit of a scam, prices are all over the place for some modules!

I rarely see the 1G DAC cables.

It is advisable for you to have the SFP 1000BASE-T modules and cat5e cables or go for the SFP Fiber modules and fiber patch cables. Both of the solutions are cheap nowadays.
