richbrowncardiff Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Hi Everyone, Using Classic Shell for our start menu and all working except importing of xml when people login. Any idea how I can import settings at login. Have tried importing a .reg file from a configured pc which works as an admin (exit classic shell import reg then run classic shell again) but need the config to load for any user who uses the pc. Any help / advice much appreciated as always.
ADMaster Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Classic Shell has admx templates that you can configure. I've not tried configuring it with xml.
richbrowncardiff Posted December 29, 2016 Author Posted December 29, 2016 Thanks for your help I have setup the Policy's but they don't seem to give me enough control (customising layout etc as you can in the settings of the app itself) have you managed to get it all working well using the policy ?
Localtechie Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 Thanks for your help I have setup the Policy's but they don't seem to give me enough control (customising layout etc as you can in the settings of the app itself) have you managed to get it all working well using the policy ? Isn't that based inside the MenuItems7 reg key? I customised that, and it works well here on 200+ devices.

vyperz Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 how can i get rid of the Windows System , Ease Of Access , Admin Tools folders ? using GPO
PyROm Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 We use Computer>Adminastrative templates>classic shell>classic start menu>Menu items for classic menu with one column to configure links outside the programs folder. it is a multiline box that defines all links... from the help in the gpo Select the menu items to be used by the classic style with one column. The best way to get the right string is to configure the items in the Classic Start Menu settings dialog and then look up the value named MenuItems1 in HKCU\Software\IvoSoft\ClassicStartMenu\Settings
