Self-Hosted Exchange Server 2010 and Google not excepting our Emails

Afternoon all

 

With it being Christmas, I am hoping for a miracle !

 

Over the last 4-6 weeks, we have been experiencing issues sending emails to Google and Google hosted accounts. It was working one day and then the next not! We host our own Exchange 2010 server and have done for many years.

 

When we send an email to Google we get the following bounce-back;

 

mx.google.com rejected your message to the following e-mail addresses:

mx.google.com gave this error:

Your message wasn't delivered due to a permission or security issue. It may have been rejected by a moderator, the address may only accept e-mail from certain senders, or another restriction may be preventing delivery.

All other mail providers, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc. accept our emails no problem.

 

I have done loads of testing with MX Toolbox and I get positive results back. I have registered and been verified by Google's own Postmaster service. I am on no spam lists at the moment. I have checked all out going traffic and all SMTP is coming from our exchange server. I have also followed the Google Bulk Sender best practise stuff too. We have an SPF record but we do not use DKIM or DMARC polices.

 

First has anyone else experienced any of these issues with Google recently? Obviously, if you have and have managed to solve the problem or if anyone else knows of anything please could you point me in the right direction?

I remember in the distant past that if the IP your mail comes from looks up differently to what the mail program says it is then it will get stopped, so your IP 82.16.27.51 is in DNS as mail.healing-school.co.uk but your headers above are showing as healing-exchange.school.local against that IP so it will fail so it could be that....

 

If you can get that set on exchange to go out as mail.healing-school.co.uk and ensure the rDNS is the same that may just cure it.

 

The name is in your send connector (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/bb629503%28v=exchg.141%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396) and you want to set it in "Specify the FQDN this connector will provide in response to HELO or EHLO " you should obviously do tests etc and ensure by changing this / any other exchange setting you don't break something else.

I'd recommend using https://www.mail-tester.com/ as that should help flag any issues with the DNS and with blacklisting's. If your getting a 10/10 rating then at least you know your not missing anything on that side of things.
