zag Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 Has anyone here moved to the hosted School Cash Office solution from Tucassi? I have been asking about it for years, and finally they look to have done it. Anyone got any feedback yet? Here is the email: SCO Upgrade available - No more sync! I wanted to send you a quick email to remind you that (enter school name) can now migrate to our new hosted version of Schools Cash Office 2.4, at no extra cost. We are delighted that version SCO 2.4 will automatically remove the regular synchronisation process required with your current SC0 2.3 system. It also means that will benefit from the following: Administrative team · See online payments in SCO in real time · Make products and trips available instantly · Allow parents to order meals online · Support Pupil Premium · Integrated stock control · Monthly release of SCO containing enhancements to the product · Access multiple Schools data from 1 location with 1 login - Users can now work from home IT department · No synchronisation process · No SCO server to maintain · No database to maintain or backup For more information on all the changes in the latest version of the software, we would encourage you to take a look at the following guide: http://www.tucasihelp.com/documents/2.4SCOWhyShouldIMigrateToSCO2.4PreMigrationGuide.pdf
dry Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 We moved to 2.4 a while ago. It's been ok. Nice to not have another DB to worry about backing up etc. There were a few teething problems- the 2.3 client doesn't uninstall cleanly and leaves a load of reg entrys that play havoc with 2.4. Tucasi's helpdesk is an 0844 number (I think they're the only people in the world still using an 0844 number) and are very slow to reply to emails, so 5p per minute if you need support. Need more clarification on the 'no more synchronization' claim - our BM still manually pushes the SIMS sync button (Oh, that's an extra module @ £x00 per annum btw) but that could just be the way we've configured it. 1
Syman_a Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 we converted over in the last week or so. The initial testing and checks for data integrity took a while. But now it's all done, have not been notified of any issues...yet!!
Edu-IT Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 On the whole was OK. Had a few issues and if you did certain things, you would totally break the database requiring their intervention, but I suspect that's all been fixed now. I believe you can schedule the SIMS import.
tomearnshaw Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 We are still on 2.3 and have just tried to install the online payments module. Even with x86 Java 7, it's not working as it should. Their solution is to migrate us rather then fix our existing version.
round2it Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 I just found a copy of this it has been purchased but never installed, who the hell purchased this and not told me. Grrrrrrr
jonbd Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 We moved across to hosted last week and it was a right old pain but seems to have settled down now. Took weeks and weeks for their sync test to work for us, and when we finally got moved across it stopped working with our cashless catering system (NRS). That seems to be working again after a few days of chaos thankfully. We also had various parts of the application throw up errors for a couple of days, but they got it working eventually. Time will tell if it will be worth it or not, but we had numerous problems with the non hosted version anyway, so we will see. 1
