Anyone tried a window vac on monitors?

Here we have to regularly clean montors, getting through a lot of tissue from wiping them dry to avoid streaks and dealing with cramp from fiddling about trying to rub streaks off. I was just wondering if anyone had tried a window vac for such as job? and if so would it be worth looking at one for this job?

I've not tried it on a monitor but I do own a Karcher Window Vac and can say it definitely wouldn't be suitable for a monitor. You need to make the surface (dripping) wet and the vac removes the water. Even though it claims to be 'streak free', I've found with anything other than very expensive window cleaner, streaks are left.

Get some decent mircofibre cloths and a bottle of screen clean. I bought a pair from Wilkinson for about £3. A purple soft one for the cleaning, and a smoother blue one for buffing.

Spray on to the cloth never the screen to avoid damage. The liquid runs down the bottom behind the plastic trim and can permanently damage the screen depending on the design.

I just use window cleaner on ours and and one of those general purpose kitchen cloths that come in a pack, I use the same at home too. I also use it on iPads without any problems - gets rid of all those annoying greasy finger marks.

 

At the mo it's Co-Op window cleaner and cloths, which were "Any 2 for £2". Sadly the Co-Op has just closed, so I guess it will be either Wilko's or Tesco's, depending what is cheapest. We had a bottle of Wico's before and it worked really well.

Always used window cleaner and a couple of cloths. Best cleaner I have found is Nilco Nilglass.

I wouldn't use that. It's got isopropanol in which will damage the plastic coating of the screens over time, unless they are glass fronted.

I use glass cleaner and two duster MIT's one to wipe and one to buff up

As already said, make sure you use a microfibre, they're silly cheap and make life a hell of a lot easier!

Thanks for the replies, I have a pack of microfibre cloths at home, will bring them in and give it a try, do people wash them after use, eg in a washing machine, or rinse them etc?
