My school want to replace their current projector in the hall with an ultra short throw. They also want to increase the screen size to 3m and use a tab tensioned roll up screen.

One of my usual suppliers has quoted but is very concerned about even the smallest of screen movement resulting in a wobble which will be hard to watch.

The other, a specialist AV supplier have quoted for a 2M screen but not a 3M as they are also concerned.

Has anyone got an ultra short throw with a 3m tab tensioned roll-up screen?

Roll-up screens and ultra-short throw projectors don't work very well together as a rule. If the screen is not perfectly flat, it will result in noticeable image distortion. You really need a rigid screen for an ultra-short throw.

Hi Witch

We've got a Hitachi UST projector in the drama studio that we managed to get a 2.6m wide throw on by going to the very last turn of the thread on the wall mount. However, I wouldn't recommend using a pull down screen as even the slightest movement or misalignment will magnify and look horrible. We project onto a painted white wall as the kids use to it to project backgrounds and then act in front of them for drama classes etc

I am also being told that it will wash out at the edges as well. As well as the fact that the screen will be ultra wide and therefore pretty short!
