fire TV

Has anyone got a Fire tv box and if sh what do you think of them?

 

Im already using a fire stick for streaming and Netflix but am thinking of investing in another for our other tv and am intrested in the fire tv box as the specs and cost are both apealing

The Fire TV box is more responsive than the stick and it can do 4K assuming you have a TV and content to support it.

 

I got a Nvidia Shield TV last year and it's one of the best purchases I have made. It's about double the price of the Amazon box though.

If buying fire (or the stick) black Friday will likely see a discount, plus the newer more powerful stick is due out "soon" in UK....

 

Shield is the one to go for if you can stretch budget though

I have a firetv box and a stick. The box is much more responsive and the wifi downstairs n my house is a bit rubbish so having an ethernet option is quite a plus

I may or may not use extra software on it.

Haven't tried any other media boxes though to compare but I'm quite happy with it.

Not got a 4k tv to see how it upscales.

They're just more responsive than the stick really with the odd benefit like the Ethernet port. I'd wait for Black Friday as I'm sure Amazon will be doing something! I got my Fire Stick last year for 18quid

If they don't come on offer, the M8S+ box is a really good cheaper alternative.

If you go down the M8S+ route make sure you get one with Android 5 or above installed. My experience in the past has been that trying to upgrade some of these Android boxes can be a real pain.

I think the Fire stick and main TV box are great bits of kit. The full sized one, which we have in our lounge, is much better than the stick, on our bedroom telly (and nearer the router, in my study), which has occasionally dropped off our wireless network which is fixed by my other half putting me on a charge until I restart the wifi router, and this seems to have got better with an upgrade of the router firmware, which suggests the problem isn't entirely the Fire Stick's fault.

I have the fire box. One advantage it has is that you can plug in a USB stick at the rear for more storage of Apps.

 

I like mine as a portal to Netflix, BBC, ITV, et al

well so far fire sticks on offer for £24 but no sign of the fire tv yet still roll on tomorrow

I've got a Fire Stick and also one of the M8S+ boxes mentioned above. I'm starting to use my Fire stick less and less to be honest because it's so much slower than my Android box. If you want to go for a Fire, definitely go for a box and run ethernet to it!

trouble is no offers on the fire tv and its only for the second tv in the playroom (dining room)
