Cheers guys, backups to a NAS (separate building) and Hyper-V hosts separate RAID

Thank you - I was nervous it might not be enough :-)

My hosts have a pair of 300gb 10k sas raid 1 and they are running 2012r2 hyper v clustered. They only have about 25gb used.

I'm seriously considering replacing them with 2x 120gb enterprise SSD and repurposing the 4x 300gb drives from both hosts into our storage array.

Still got some servers running 72GB RAID 1 drives for OS - unless your splitting up exchange/SQL installs for log files/databases then its more than adequate.

I have some PCs with 80G disks running win 7 ent quite happily

and I think the floppy drives and parallel printer ports on them work - although I can't be bothered trying them

When building servers, for the OS partition, I tend to make them as small as possible - usually no more that 40GB. I end up installing any programs onto a second drive.
