Epson Eb-595Wi / Epson EB-585 Projectors + Whiteboards

Morning all,

 

We are looking into getting some Epson Eb-595Wi / Epson EB-585 Projectors short throw projectors into one of our new build areas. We have been told that ideall we need a Sapphire 1800x1200 display/dry wipe board upon which to project. These boards apparently are suitable for writing on, projecting on and being interactive on.

 

Our supplier wants £266.00 per board.

 

I think that is expensive. Can anyone on here advise?

I have previously installed the EB-585Wi projectors and have used Sahara boards.

We've just got standard dry wipe boards with out interactive projectors (NEC, not Epson, but they're quite similar)...

 

We got larger than the standard boards to allow a decent image size, but also allowing space at the side of the projected image to leave clear for writing too, they do cost quite a bit more, but they work well for us so I'd definitely recommend wider boards...

We got a couple with TK Team whiteboard 79" - don't get one of those as it's a pita to wipe pen off of (it just smears).

The ones we have on most are 80" generic semi matte magnetic ones that the caretakers got from their suppliers and they are fine.

Over the summer we bought an 89" one from magiboards.com for about £200 Semi Matt Dry Wipe Projection Whiteboards fro projection and dry wipe (up a bit in price now)

@garethedmondson I cant remember how much we paid for them. We had a bulk load bought as part of an AV upgrade. Just looked on AV Parts Master and they have it for £198 ex VAT. Link Here

Most whiteboards should be fine although many prefer to use a matte finish to prevent light reflection, and matte whiteboards tend to cost more than gloss as they are 'specialist' products designed for projection (not justifiably, I would say).

 

If you are going with touch interactive projectors then please check manufacturer's specification as I know that ours require the bezel to be no more than 2mm - 3mm proud of the dry-wipe area, else it may interfere with the touch interactivity. I am sure Epson will have their own spec for their products.

 

For the record I purchased a wide format matte whiteboard for our service centre to use with one of our products for under £180 and it works absolutely flawlessly.

 

Bezel aside, any whiteboard should do (matte finish optional) so long as it is the same aspect ratio - the Epson models you mention are WXGA so will need a wide format (16:10) board.

We have TK team boards. Have had issues with them buldging slightly, particularly when they are not fixed flush to wall. My advise would be spend the money on the boards. try some before you buy a shed load. Also get magnetic ones. Saves faf with fitting the touch unit.

 

Lastly - get them pro installed. Doing 30 of these myself is the biggest mistake I ever made.
