Doesn't appear to be, I haven't had any complaints, but then I'm still rolling out AC's. The old pro gen 1's were really bad at disconnecting although the latest beta has been pretty stable (3.7.8.5016)

Interesting I'm running 3.7.27.5440 which is newer and seeing the issue on AP-Pros....

I'm looking at the ac-pros for one of my schools. Where do I find a controller as I understood there was software that runs on a desktop PC?

I've spent the afternoon planning where the APs will go and in the school there are 4 cabs, A, B, C and D. Cab A and D will each power 4 AC pros but cab B will need to power 10 AC pros.

 

What would be the most cost effective way to achieve this? There is talk in this thread about the toughswitch possibly causing AP lockups which I don't want so would it be best say for cab B to use 2 X 8 port toughswitches and spread the load between the two?

I'd avoid the ToughSwitches entirely and use any standard POE switch, a HP 2530-24G-POE for example.

Sorry to jump onto this but I am looking to buy one or two of these for home, one upstairs and one downstairs or just the one if I can get away with it. I am in a 50's ex LA semi brick walls in the house but my latest Virgin router gives me fairly good coverage in the house (its at the front in the office upstairs) but need a bit more coverage. I am going to get one of the following, which one should I be looking at:

 

Ubiquiti UAP-AC-PRO UniFi AC1750 WiFi PoE Access Point, Indoor/Outdoor, Simultaneous Dual-Band (1750Mbps AC)

Ubiquiti UAP-AC-LR UniFi Long Range AC1300 Simultaneous Dual-Band WiFi PoE Access Point (1300Mbps AC)

Ubiquiti UAP-AC-LITE UniFi AC1200 Simultaneous Dual-Band WiFi PoE Access Point (1200Mbps AC)

 

I want to give the house ample coverage and get better coverage out in the garden, at the moment I can barely get out the back door before it drops.

The AC pro's are now af/at compatible, but for cost purposes it's a shame that the us-8-60w switches aren't generally available as these would probably be fine for the 4 in each cab (they have 4 poe ports) of course there are the newer 8 port POE switches and Ubiquiti also have a 16 port rackmount PoE. I've not used these switches in production but I have one coming soon to experiment with.

Just try a single AC-PRO then build up - that's the beauty of the system. I'm planning on running a us-8-60w, an ac-pro under the stairs and a USG , I tried an ac-pro and got great speeds here

Not heard anything bad about them around here, many of my customers use them and we have a big wireless internet provision around here that uses the external 5Ghz products and no issues reported. As and when I am slowly upgrading my home network to something I want rather than relying on the VirginMedia router.

@caffrey did you ever buy the USG? I'm considering getting one to replace our Netasq U70S but I'd like to hear from someone who has used the USG (or USG pro) in a school environment.

Yes I use one at home, it's really basic but does everything you need from it (firewall, port forwards, dhcp for vlans etc.) But I've not tried one in school yet but I am considering getting a pro in for routing
