Nausing Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Hi all, Two directors have been battling for some years now and it has finally come to the surface that the director in charge of the MIS/Data will be the new director for IT and will merge the two departments together. I am head of IT and cannot see the positives of this. Neither can the head of MIS. Have any of your schools done something similar with IT?
just_david Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 We work quiet closely with our data manager and I can see some synergy. She manages insight users etc, but we manage the sync. Heck a lot of our information comes from our MIS (sims + salamander), and if that info is wrong it causes a lot of problems. As long as the role of data manager and network manager etc don't merge I'm not sure I'd see it as an issue. If it did I'd say it would as it is 2 different skill sets.
Oaktech Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Provided they aren't asking you to do each other's jobs, I wouldn't see too much of an issue with it. My last place IT and MIS both reported to the same deputy head and it was no problem.
