Thank you.

Did you have to delegate password rights to staff in AD? Also, how have you deployed this. I've installed it to a computer as a test, then mapped a drive to it. Every time I run the software on a remote PC it is asking me to register the product. Have you deployed it to each teacher desktop directly?

You do yes.

I have deployed it. I set it up on one machine and then copied that to the rest via a script.

Thank you. I've tried copying the WiseSoft folder within Program Files from the computer with it installed to another PC. When you run the program it asks you to register it. Is there a way of automating this registration process?

It was already registered on the original PC, by the way.

The registration details are stored in a file called PasswordControl.lic in the same folder as the PasswordControl.exe. Copy this to the other PCs that have it installed and the program shouldn't prompt to be registered. :)

Thank you Andy.

Has anybody else deployed this across a network? How did you do this?

I installed to a shared drive from the off and followed the instructions on post 18 of this discussion: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/learning-network-manager/169211-user-password-reset.html to set permissions. @Bev couldn't get it working, though.

Thread linked as some other suggestions there too.

I also installed it on a network share, then opened AD users and computers msc navigated to the Student OU and delegated rights (to teachers) as per the guide...works fine

Thanks to everyone who replied. I've got this working now. My setup was the following:

1. Download Beta version 2.5 of Password Control. This version is required for the funky shortcut setup later in this post. It also seemed to allow the licence file to work from over a share.

2. Install the software to a workstation and licence it.

3. Copy the entire folder to a server and share it out so that staff have read only access. Made the share a hidden share.

4. Created a new security group in AD for the purposes of AD password delegation.

5. Setup password delegation for the parent students OU. The child OUs are divided into Years of Intake.

6. Created a shortcut pointing to the share with the following properties \\server\share$\PasswordControl.exe -root "ou=Students,OU=User_Accounts,dc=network,dc=com" -s "DC.network.com"

7. Edited the PasswordControl.exe.config file on the share so that the

Works like a charm now. Thanks again to everyone in this post as well as @dalehopper for one of his previous posts.
