Smee Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 we use airserver to mirror our ipads to the iwb/class pc. Is there a way to mirror it the other way. We have a pupil who has issues seeing the iwb and using a tablet would enable them to carry on in the class. thanks
ICTDirect_Dave Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 There are apps that allow it. But there aren't any free ones that will work for more than a few minutes. Should be long enough to test the theory though. A quick google suggests something called duet display. Might be worth a look?
pantscat Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 duet display It's a great app/product - but it's not wireless. What about using a VNC client or something similar?
JordanT91 Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 LiteManager does the job for us but it's a bit buggy. It's free as well.
Smee Posted September 20, 2016 Author Posted September 20, 2016 thanks for the suggestions but I'm after something that will allow the pupil to just view the teachers IWB on their tablet, not something that they could then remote onto the iwb if that makes sense. The child in question has particularly bad vision. There is a program called Air Display that Im going to have a look at but its not free so we shall have to see. thanks once again.
AJWhite1970 Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 (edited) Not a mirroring solution but.... I've got a student with 10% vision who we have supplied an ipad for day to day use and he's getting on fine with it. I have had a running argument with the local county assessor who every time they are on-site demands that he has a real time mirror of the teachers PC so he can see what's on the board like all the other schools do. I've flatly refused this request more times than I can remember, my argument being that teachers often set an assignment then freeze the screen on the projector before either doing registers, emails etc which of course the student who is mirrored could see as well (as the freeze is a projector function not a PC function) thereby potentially exposing confidential info. What we did here was a bit of teacher education, all teachers who teach said student must email him a copy of their power point in pdf format before the lesson so he can open it and magnify. We have also downloaded all his text books in pdf format through load2learn.org which is now part of the RNIB. After a couple of weeks it ran like clockwork, two years later he's now in year 9 and he and his parents couldn't be happier. Doesn't stop the assessor bringing up mirroring every visit though... My suggestion will do exactly what you need. It does have other options, such as remote control, remote shutdown, messages etc. but these can be hidden. 1
steveg Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 I have set this up previously using VNC, which on the pc side can be set to view only, so no control from the tablet. As mentioned above make sure there is nothing confidential being displayed on the teachers pc. Steve
