[sims] Date Format. Help Please

Afternoon All,

 

One of our users has a problem today where in there sims, on the school diary all the date formats have been set to the american format(Month/Day/Year) instead of the format they need to use (Day/Month/Year). No one in the IT Support department can manage to find the option to change the setting, it is probably really simple but we just cant find it.

 

Help would be great.

It's definitely not any setting in SIMS

Try changing everything to USA, save and then back to UK on the Workstation

As Phil said above, it's not in SIMS, it's the computer settings

I had this year's ago I had a registry

fix for xp but the settings are probably the same I will see if still have it Monday.

i used to run this on a work station to get the date and time correct for sims.

 

just save as a .reg as im sure you know. backup your reg first

Don't know why but SIMS has been doing this for us again recently when it's been fine for ages.

 

Our fix is to go to control panel, region and language, change the format to US, apply and then change the format back to UK again like @Greg suggested.

@Cache as far as I know, this is nothing to do with SIMS which picks up the date format from the Windows settings. Something has almost certainly changed the Windows settings on the PC and this will affect any software that takes its date/time format from Windows.

@PhilNeal it is only SIMS that is affected by it though, all other parts of Windows and other Applications work as expected in the correct format.

 

I logged a case a few years back and it was a known thing within Capita (I was told, although the actual cause behind it doing it wasn't known) and to change the region & language settings to something else and then back to UK was the fix.

We have the same issue. System locale is correct but SIMS is the only affected software. Strange but true. Hmmm

It was just random for us same image and gpos. Could never get to the bottom of it.

 

But since moving to win 7 all has been fine.

 

The registered fix above always worked for me

I still think this is not a SIMS issue. We have not hard coded the date/time format if we had then SIMS would not be affected by the registry.

Just to add my five pennyworth, in case it helps identify the problem. For no obvious reason, the date in Sims changes to US format, I have this happen maybe once a year. My computer / network was and is set to UK format. This morning I was working with Excel, IE, Sims and Outlook, they were all open. After downloading and importing a CTF file from S2S, it declared an error with overlapping school history dates, so I went to check the school history dates of the newbie, and the dates were all US format. I presumed they had come in on the file that way, and started to reverse them, but Sims was having none of it and all the dates in sims were now showing US format.

It would be worth noting if CTF import is responsible for anyone else's scenario, although it certainly doesn't happen every time we import a CTF.

 

Can I add that the dates in Sims were UK format, I had used some earlier in the day and the change happened while it was open.

 

Also, my remedy is to close Sims and reopen, it then reverts back to UK dates.

one of my machine does this random and I just get the user to run the reg fix close sims and reopen, still not sure why it is happening

 

going to have it run as a scheduled task on that machine
